Your data & privacy
Where your records live, who can see them, and how to get them out or delete them.
On this page
The short version: your books are yours, they stay in your country, and you can take them with you or delete them at any time.
Where your data lives
Your region comes from the phone number you verified with, and your records stay in that region's environment. Norwegian data stays in the European environment; UAE data is held in a separate one. The two are kept apart.
Who can see it
Your accounts are visible to you and to anyone you've given access to your account. ByteBill staff do not read your books as a matter of course. If you ask us for help with a specific problem, we may need to look at the relevant record to answer you — and we'll say so when that's the case.
ByteBill is a tool, not a bookkeeping service. Nobody here reviews or maintains your accounts.
Getting your data out
Two routes, both built in and neither gated:
- SAF-T export — your full books in the standard format every accounting package reads. See Reports and SAF-T.
- PDFs — every document ByteBill handles has a PDF you can view and save.
We consider export a basic right rather than a premium feature. If you want to leave, you should be able to.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from within the app, or request deletion here.
One thing to know before you do: bookkeeping law requires business records to be retained for a set period, and that obligation is yours, not ours. Export your SAF-T file before deleting, so you still hold the records you're required to keep. The deletion page sets out exactly what is removed and what must be retained.
Making a privacy request
For access, correction, export or objection under GDPR, write to the address on the privacy policy. We'll come back to you within the statutory period.
Security habits worth having
- Turn on App lock so a PIN is needed to open the app.
- Never share a one-time code with anyone, including anyone claiming to be ByteBill support.
