Terms of Service

Last updated

These terms govern your use of the ByteBill service (including the ByteBill app) and this website. By using ByteBill you agree to them.

1. Who you are contracting with

ByteBill is provided by OneArkive AS, organisation number 929 347 900, registered at Fossumberget 40, 0983 Oslo, Norway ("we", "us").

2. What ByteBill is — and is not

ByteBill is software. It helps you keep your own books, issue and receive invoices, run payroll and prepare statutory returns.

ByteBill is not:

  • an accounting service. We do not keep your books for you, and nobody here reviews your accounts.
  • an authorised accountant (autorisert regnskapsfører) under Norwegian law.
  • a provider of tax, legal or financial advice.

You submit your own statutory returns with your own eID, through ByteBill.

Responsibility for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of your books and your filings is yours.

3. Your account

  • You sign in with your phone number. Keep control of that number and of any PIN you set.
  • Never share one-time codes with anyone, including anyone claiming to be us.
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us promptly at support@bytebill.no if you believe it has been compromised.

4. Acting for an organisation

When you connect an organisation you confirm you are authorised to act for it. For PEPPOL connections this is verified through BankID. You must not connect an organisation you are not entitled to represent.

5. Acceptable use

You must not:

  • use ByteBill unlawfully, or to issue false or fraudulent invoices
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service or to other users' data
  • interfere with the service's operation, or place unreasonable load on it
  • reverse engineer, resell or white-label the service without our written agreement

6. Your data

You retain all rights in the data you put into ByteBill. We process it as described in the privacy policy.

You can export your data at any time, in the standard SAF-T format, at no charge. See Delete your account for how deletion works and what must be retained.

7. Fees

ByteBill is a paid subscription for businesses. The price is the one stated in your order or in our price list at the time you subscribe. Prices are monthly and exclude Norwegian VAT (MVA, currently 25 %), which is added to the invoice.

  • Billing. We invoice monthly. A month that starts or ends partway is charged pro rata.
  • Price changes. We give you at least 30 days' notice before a price change takes effect. If you don't accept it, you can end the subscription before then.
  • Refunds. Fees for a month already started are not refunded, except where mandatory law requires it.
  • Unpaid invoices. If an invoice stays unpaid, your account becomes read-only: you can still sign in, see and export your data, but you cannot create or change anything until the invoice is paid. Your data is not deleted because an invoice is late.
  • Subscriptions are bought on bytebill.no, not in the app. The app shows your plan but does not sell or charge for it.

8. Availability

We work to keep ByteBill available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Maintenance, faults and failures in networks and services beyond our control — including the PEPPOL network, banking infrastructure and government systems — can interrupt it.

We do not offer a service-level agreement (SLA) or guaranteed uptime.

9. Third-party services

ByteBill connects to third-party systems including the PEPPOL network and government portals. We are not responsible for their availability, their behaviour, or changes they make. Your use of them may be governed by their own terms.

10. Warranties

ByteBill is provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the software is free of defects, or that using it makes your books or your filings correct.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer legislation.

11. Liability

ByteBill is offered to businesses. To the extent the law allows:

  • Our total liability to you under or in connection with these terms is limited to the fees you have paid us in the 12 months before the event that gives rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost profit, lost revenue, lost data that you could have restored from an export, or claims from third parties.
  • These limits do not apply to loss caused by our gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or where mandatory law does not allow liability to be limited.

You remain responsible for your own bookkeeping, filings and payments, including checking what you submit to authorities.

12. Termination

You may stop using ByteBill and delete your account at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except where a serious breach or a legal requirement makes it impossible, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data first.

13. Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give you notice in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use ByteBill after that means you accept the revised terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Oslo tingrett (Oslo District Court), unless mandatory law gives you the right to bring proceedings elsewhere.
