A complete accounting system, sized for a small business.

ByteBill does the whole job for ENK and AS — keeping the ledger, handling VAT, receiving and issuing EHF invoices, running payroll, and preparing the returns you submit with your own eID, through ByteBill. You use it through the ByteBill app for iPhone and Android. Here is what that means, capability by capability.
01

Send & receive e-invoices

Register your organisation on the PEPPOL network with BankID and supplier invoices start arriving in ByteBill automatically. Create and send your own invoices in the same place: pick a customer, add lines with the right VAT category, and ByteBill builds a compliant EHF / BIS Billing 3.0 document and transmits it. Invoice numbers are sequential with no gaps — a failed send never burns a number. If your organisation is already registered with another PEPPOL access point, it has to be moved to ByteBill first.

  • PEPPOL send and receive (EHF / BIS Billing 3.0)
  • Email copy, credit notes and reminders
  • Customer and product registers with saved defaults
  • VAT categories: standard, zero-rated, exempt, reverse charge
  • Gap-free sequential invoice numbering

A real double-entry ledger

Every invoice, receipt and payment posts as a balanced double-entry voucher. ByteBill ships the complete NS 4102-aligned chart and the standard SAF-T VAT codes, then curates that down to the handful of accounts your business actually uses so you are never scrolling through hundreds of irrelevant lines. Drafts are proposed automatically; you confirm.

  • Balanced double-entry vouchers, every time
  • Full NS 4102 chart, curated to a working set per business
  • Automatic draft postings from invoices and receipts
  • Purchase and payment booked as a matched pair of vouchers
  • Void and correction handling that keeps the audit trail intact
  • Bank reconciliation by importing statements (CAMT.053 / CSV)

Capture receipts and bills

Snap a receipt at the till or forward a supplier PDF to your ByteBill email address. The document is read, archived, and turned into a draft voucher with the supplier, date, amount and VAT filled in. Receipts you have already paid settle straight against the bank; bills you have not yet paid go into what you owe.

  • In-app camera capture and file upload
  • Email-in — forward a bill to your ByteBill address
  • Supplier, date, amount and VAT read automatically
  • Paid receipts and unpaid bills handled differently, correctly
  • Original document archived alongside the voucher

One-tap categorisation

Categorising vouchers is the daily work. A tag is a named, reusable posting template you control — the accounting shape of a voucher minus the amount. ByteBill seeds a sensible default set for your country and learns which tag you use for which supplier, so the second invoice from the same supplier is already categorised.

  • Seeded default tags per country, plus your own
  • Supplier learning — ByteBill remembers your choice
  • Sets both the account and the VAT code in one tap
  • Override any suggestion without breaking the template

Run payroll

Keep employee records, run salary for a period, and have the result booked to the accounts automatically. Norwegian rules are built in — feriepenger, arbeidsgiveravgift and OTP — with rates you can edit. Each run aggregates into one balanced payroll voucher in the ledger, and the monthly a-melding file is generated from your posted runs.

  • Employee records and per-employee tax rate
  • Feriepenger, arbeidsgiveravgift and OTP
  • A-melding file generated from your payroll
  • Editable tax reference rates
  • Posts one balanced payroll voucher per run

Statutory returns, prepared for you

ByteBill assembles your statutory returns from the ledger you already keep, validates them against the official schemas. You submit your own returns with your own eID, through ByteBill. That is deliberate: it keeps you in control of your own filings and keeps ByteBill a software vendor rather than your accountant.

  • MVA-melding (VAT) per term
  • Skattemelding / næringsspesifikasjon
  • A-melding from your posted payroll runs
  • Årsregnskap and Aksjonærregisteroppgave for AS
  • Checked in ByteBill — you submit it with your own eID

SAF-T & your accountant

Switching from another system? Import its SAF-T file and your history comes with you. ByteBill also exports Norwegian SAF-T Financial v1.30 — the standard format the tax authority and every accounting package understand — and you can give your accountant or auditor access to your books directly. No lock-in.

  • SAF-T import when you switch from another system
  • Norwegian SAF-T Financial v1.30 export
  • Accountant and auditor access to your books
  • Result report and VAT basis per period
  • Accountant-ready period exports
  • Your data leaves in an open standard

Every document archived as a PDF

Bookkeeping law requires you to keep the documents, not just the numbers. ByteBill generates a clean PDF for every electronic document it handles and keeps the original file for anything that arrived as a PDF or a photo. Everything is retrievable from the app and saveable to your device.

  • Server-generated PDFs for e-invoices, payslips and reports
  • Original file kept for supplier PDFs and scanned receipts
  • Retained in line with bookkeeping requirements
  • Viewable in-app and saveable to your device
