Why we built it

Bookkeeping software assumes you're a bookkeeper.

Most accounting packages are built for the accountant, then sold to the business owner. You get a desktop ledger, a chart of hundreds of accounts you’ve never heard of, and a shoebox of receipts you still have to type in yourself.

The receipts pile up

Every paper receipt is a manual entry waiting to happen. ByteBill reads it from a photo and drafts the voucher for you.

The deadlines arrive anyway

MVA every other month, A-melding every month, årsregnskap every year. ByteBill builds each one from your ledger and checks it before you file.

And from 2030, it must be digital

Norway’s mandate means receiving e-invoices and keeping digital books. ByteBill was built for that requirement from the first line of code.

Supplier invoices you can actually read

Invoices you receive open in ByteBill with their lines, VAT and due date laid out clearly — and the original PDF alongside.

How it works

How it works

Four steps, then it mostly runs itself.

  1. 1

    Sign in with your phone

Download the ByteBill app. No password — enter your phone number, type the code we text you, and you're in.

  2. 2

    Connect your business

Sign in with BankID and pick your organisation from Altinn. Register it on PEPPOL and supplier EHF invoices arrive in ByteBill. You can also skip this and connect later.

  3. 3

    Confirm what ByteBill drafts

Invoices and receipts arrive already posted as draft vouchers. Tap a tag to categorise, confirm, and your books are up to date.

  4. 4

    Submit your returns

When the term ends, ByteBill prepares and checks your MVA-melding from the books you already kept. You submit it with your own eID, through ByteBill.
