Snap a receipt, tap a tag, done

Receipt capture and one-tap posting tags — the two features that turn daily bookkeeping from an evening's work into a few seconds.

Two changes shipped together this week, and they are better in combination than either is alone.

Capture

Photograph a receipt at the till, or forward a supplier's emailed PDF to your ByteBill address. Either way the document is read, archived and turned into a draft voucher with the supplier, date, amount and VAT already filled in.

Tag it as a receipt (already paid) or a bill (not yet paid) and ByteBill books it correctly — a paid receipt now creates a matched pair of vouchers, a purchase and a linked payment, rather than collapsing both events into one entry. That keeps your supplier ledger and your bank reconciliation honest.

Tags

A tag is a reusable posting template: the accounting shape of a voucher, minus the amount. Tap Reise on a travel invoice and it books to the right account with the right VAT code.

ByteBill seeds a default set for your country, and learns your suppliers — tag one invoice from a supplier and the next one arrives already categorised. You can always override it, and overriding one voucher does not change the template or anything you posted before.

Why this pairing matters

Categorising vouchers is the daily work of bookkeeping, and it is where small businesses fall behind. Capture removes the typing. Tags remove the deciding. What is left is confirming that ByteBill got it right, which takes seconds.
