Getting started
Your first run, how signing in works, and how ByteBill decides which country you're in.
On this page
ByteBill uses passwordless sign-in. There is no password to remember — you prove who you are with your phone number and a code we text you.
Your region is set by your phone number
The very first time you open ByteBill it asks for your phone number. Your country is worked out automatically from the calling code — +47 means Norway, +971 means the UAE. There is no separate country picker.
This matters more than it looks. Your region decides which country's accounting rules apply, which currency you invoice in, and where your data is stored. Your invoices stay in the country where you receive them.
Because it has that effect, your region is shown in Preferences but cannot be edited there. If you genuinely need to change it, contact support.
Signing in
- Enter your phone number in international format, for example
+4712345678. - Tap Send code. We text you a one-time verification code.
- Type the code from the SMS and tap Verify.
- You're in.
If the code doesn't arrive, use Resend code. If you typed the wrong number, use Change number and start again.
ByteBill support will never ask you for a one-time code. If anyone asks you to read one out — including someone claiming to be us — they are trying to take over your account.
Locking the app with a PIN
You can require a PIN each time the app opens. Set it up under Preferences → App lock; see Preferences for the details.
This is worth turning on. Your ByteBill account holds your full accounts, your customer list and your payroll — the same things you would not leave open on a desk.
What to do next
- Connect your company: sign in with BankID and pick your organisation from Altinn. You can skip this at first and connect later from Preferences → Connections.
- Connect your organisation to PEPPOL so supplier invoices start arriving.
- Then have a look at the home screen to learn your way around.
